What is on a Toronto municipal ballot?

Toronto municipal election · October 26, 2026

Voter information reviewed October 26, 2026. Candidate platform sources were reviewed October 25, 2026.

Toronto voters elect a mayor and a councillor for their local ward. If eligible, voters also elect a school-board trustee. This guide explains the roles; it cannot determine an individual’s eligibility or actual ballot.

Mayor: citywide leadership

The mayor serves the city as a whole and participates in City Council decisions. Campaign plans describe proposed priorities, not guaranteed outcomes.

Ward councillor: local representation

A councillor represents one City of Toronto ward on Council. Use official City information for current ward boundaries and election details.

School-board trustee: only if eligible

Trustees serve one of Toronto’s school boards. Toronto has four boards: Toronto District School Board (TDSB), Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB), Conseil scolaire Viamonde and Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir. School-board wards differ from City wards, and not every voter is eligible to vote for every board.

Do not infer a board from a City ward. Only official MyVote can resolve the eligible board and sample ballot for an address.
